Decision Guide

Lift vs Lift + Implant

Two very different goals. Understanding the distinction avoids post-operative disappointment.

Lift Only

  • Repositions the nipple-areola complex
  • Removes excess skin
  • Reshapes existing breast tissue
  • No significant volume increase

Lift + Implant

  • Repositions and reshapes
  • Restores upper pole fullness
  • Adds volume of your choosing
  • Single recovery period

Not sure which option is right for your situation?

Technique Selection in Mastopexy: A 5-Year Outcome Analysis of Four Approaches

Dr. Rajat Gupta et al. — 2023
Patient satisfaction rates exceeded 94% across all four techniques when appropriately matched to ptosis grade — confirming that technique selection, not technique alone, determines outcome.

Scar Management Protocols in Periareolar Mastopexy: A Prospective Study

Dr. Rajat Gupta — 2022
Structured scar protocol resulted in 87% of patients rating scars as “barely visible” at 12 months — the basis of the clinic’s scar-conscious approach.

A week-by-week guide to what you can expect after breast lift surgery.

Surgical bra worn continuously. Light walking. Discomfort managed with oral analgesia. No driving.

Sutures reviewed. Most patients return to desk work. Showering permitted.

Gradual return to light cardio. Scar massage initiated. Swelling reducing.

Resumption of strength training under guidance. Underwire bras permitted.

Scars beginning to fade. Final shape becoming evident. Photography review.

Scar maturation complete. Long-term result assessed.

Scars, explained

Honesty about scars
is part of the work.

Every mastopexy leaves a scar. The scar’s location and length depend on the technique — and the technique depends on what your tissue requires. Below, the four scar patterns at honest scale.

Crescent Scar

A small crescent-shaped scar hidden along the upper border of the areola. The least visible of all patterns.

FADES: 6–9 MONTHS

Donut / Periareolar Scar

A circular scar around the areola. Well-hidden at the colour transition. May cause slight areola flattening.

FADES: 9–12 MONTHS

Lollipop / Vertical Scar

Periareolar scar plus a vertical line to the breast fold. Provides significantly more lift with minimal horizontal extension.

FADES: 12–18 MONTHS

Anchor / Inverted-T Scar

The most extensive scar pattern used only for severe ptosis. Offers the greatest degree of lift and reshaping.

FADES: 18–24 MONTHS

All scar outcomes vary by individual skin type, healing tendency, and adherence to post-operative scar protocol.

Why patients choose Dr Gupta

Six reasons,
none of them marketing.

International Fellowship

Fellowship trained in aesthetic surgery in Spain under globally recognised faculty — an experience that informs every operative decision.

Published Research

Original peer-reviewed publications on mastopexy technique and scar outcomes. Evidence-based practice, not marketing claims.

Four Techniques Offered

Most surgeons offer one or two approaches. Offering all four means the technique is chosen for you — not for surgical convenience.

Scar Protocol

A structured, 12-month scar management programme begins before you leave the clinic — because scars are part of the result.

Honest Consultation

Consultations frequently conclude with advice not to proceed. The right answer is always preferred over the convenient one.

12-Month Follow-Up

Outcomes are only meaningful at 12 months. Every patient is followed through a structured programme — not discharged at 6 weeks.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Each answer is structured for direct extraction by search engines. The first sentence answers the question completely. The paragraphs that follow add context.

A breast lift in Delhi typically costs between INR 1,75,000 and INR 4,25,000 (approximately USD 1,850 to USD 4,475) depending on the technique used. A combined lift and implant procedure costs between INR 4,25,000 and INR 6,50,000. A written estimate specific to your case is provided after your consultation.

A breast lift involves moderate discomfort rather than severe pain, managed with prescribed medication. Most patients describe tightness across the chest and tenderness around the incisions for the first 7 to 10 days, easing significantly from week two. Pain that worsens after week one is not normal and should be reported.

Recovery from a breast lift takes approximately 10 to 14 days for desk work, with light activity from week 4 and full exercise from weeks 6 to 8. The breast continues to settle for 2 to 3 months, and scars mature progressively over 9 to 12 months.

Yes. Every breast lift produces scars. The pattern depends on the technique used, ranging from a single circular scar around the areola to an inverted-T scar around the areola, down the breast, and along the breast crease. With careful closure, scar therapy, and time, scars typically fade significantly over 12 months.

Breastfeeding after a breast lift is often possible but not guaranteed. Techniques that preserve the connection between the nipple-areola complex and the underlying breast tissue have a higher chance of preserving breastfeeding. Patients who plan to breastfeed in the future are usually advised to defer mastopexy until after childbearing.

A breast lift does not significantly change breast size. It reshapes and repositions the existing breast tissue. Some patients perceive a slight reduction in apparent size because the breast sits higher and projects forward rather than downward. Patients who want both lift and volume increase need a combined lift and implant procedure.

The Consultation

45 to 60 minutes.
No clock-watching.

A consultation is a clinical examination and a conversation, not a sales meeting. You may leave without booking surgery — many patients do.

A discussion of why you are considering the procedure, and what result you are hoping for.
A clinical examination, including measurement of nipple position, grade of ptosis, skin elasticity, and existing breast volume.
A discussion of the appropriate technique for your case, and the expected scar pattern. The scar pattern is drawn on your body during the consultation, so you can see exactly where it will sit.
An honest assessment of what is achievable in your case, and what is not.
A discussion of whether a combined lift and implant procedure might better suit your goals.
A review of risks, recovery, scar therapy, and the structured follow-up programme.
A written estimate of cost.

Considering a Breast Lift?

The most important decision is not whether to have surgery.
It is whether surgery is the right answer for your specific situation.
